The Remedied

An amateur director goes into the post-outbreak world of New York City and lands an interview with Elizabeth and Robert Romero  – two zombies who have been cured of their disease.

When it comes to the creation of The Remedied, I wanted to make a genuinely interesting zombie movie.

Inspired by Rec (2007) directed by Jaume Balagueró and Paco Plaza, I attempted to emulate the idea of a found footage horror movie that created a world where the zombies felt somehow normalized. My film started out somewhat of an unserious cluster of things I found funny. The first film started with a script which was full of quick witty one-liners where everyone felt like a model after the same person. The second film began with the actual filming of the movie, and the third was completed in the edit. Each film had a different protagonist – Carter, then Vivienne, and finally Elizabeth. Despite all these changes, I never gave up and treated it with care and a genuine interest in crafting a movie that talks about the topic about life after death.

Elizabeth Romero isn’t a perfect human being, she isn’t even human, but what she is, is a compassionate and loving woman. I wanted to illustrate to the viewers that someone who is othered isn’t typically the way they are often perceived

Ideation:
